I move between abstraction and figuration, drawing from the world around me—whether it's the sweeping curves of a palm frond, the intrinsic form and colors of a sensual leaf, the shadow play on a building's corner, or the expression of a face. I let these forms slip into my paintings, along with fragments of memory, nature and dreams. This fluidity allows me to trace visual connections across works, even as they evolve.
Nature and the human figure are my grounding—through its rhythms, I encounter forms that echo beyond mere representation. I work in oil gessoed panels because the smoothness of the ground allows my gesture to flow, shifting between softness and resolve, shaping light and form, and giving the surface its own voice.
I find solace in the open, shifting language of forms, where imagination guides meaning and identity is fluid. When I paint, I think. When I’m in nature, I simply am.
My practice spans oil, watercolor, sculpture, printmaking, and installation. My work has been shown internationally and at venues like John Davis Gallery (NY), and Museo de las Culturas (Mexico) I have also been selected in the Bienal Olga Costa. My work is found in both public and private collections, and has been recognized by Vitro Art Center and the Coahuila Mx.State Arts Grant.
Alongside my studio practice, I’m an educator and curator. I found Wet Paint! Art Studio and collaborate on projects like Front Art Space and The Window in NYC. I studied at Cooper Union and the School of Visual Arts, and hold a degree in architecture from Coahuila State University.
